In 2016 Digitect celebrates its fifteenth anniversary as a specialist in application integration. How does a small player claim its place in the IT world? And how do you make sure you develop a reliable product with an eye on the future? Owner Frans van Basten talks about how Digitect started, about his passionate vision on IT strategy, and about an ambitious plan for the new year.
“In 2001 I founded Digitect together with Paul Vriend. We left good jobs behind, and with young families to take care of we took a considerable risk. We believed in our product, and in what we could achieve with it by investing in functionality and in deepening our knowledge. Fifteen years later, this is still the vision with which we help companies make the right choices for their IT environment.”
In 2001 Digitect started with EC-Design, a tool that generates technical specifications for application integration from a functional model. “With the EC-Design method we first determine what the application needs to do: the functional question. By separating functionality from technology, you can choose the best technology for each integration. That saves time and money.”
In 2016 Digitect is investing heavily in product development. EC-Design is going online, and we are working on a new module for Standard Business Reporting (SBR), the new standard for data exchange with government bodies. “Many companies lack knowledge of the new SBR standard. As a knowledge partner, we want to bridge the gap between these companies and the government.”
As a knowledge partner, we would like to keep our customers and business relations informed this year about everything we do and achieve at Digitect. Our New Year's resolution for 2016 is to regularly send a short message with tips and know-how on application integration and related topics that keep us all busy. We hope you will keep following us!
